The Very Hungry Caterpillar Role Play

Today we retold the story 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' by Eric Carle.
We used body movement and dance to role play the life cycle of a caterpillar from egg to butterfly.

This was our very hungry caterpillars popping from their eggs and searching for food.

Here we can see our caterpillars not feeling very well after eating TOO much food.

In this video we can see our caterpillars making a chrysalis, and chewing a hole out the other side and emerging as beautiful butterflies.

Here we can see our beautiful butterflies fluttering about in the warm sunny air.

The children had lots of fun this week learning more about caterpillars, and beginning their caterpillar reports. Next week we will be writing more about our new class friend Stripy the caterpillar.

Our caterpillars

Our caterpillars are getting fatter by the day!
We are very excited because one of our caterpillars, who we named Stripy, has made a chrysalis.

Term 1 Week 6

We are really lucky to have Mr Daly teaching us for three weeks.  He has taught us how to make carrot treat holders to sell for the School Gala.

We have been using geoboards and rubber bands to make shapes.
